    Mr. Irish has over 20 years investment banking and asset management experience in London and New York. Mr. Irish founded SWH Capital LLC in 2009, a New York based investment firm focused on innovative businesses in the financial, energy and healthcare sectors. Mr. Irish has established and managed multi-billion dollar alternative investment businesses in North America. Most recently he operated a substantial proprietary investment program for Man Group Plc. in start-up investment businesses including those focused on the technology sector. Mr. Irish’s responsibilities extended to sourcing and appraising corporate acquisition opportunities for Man Group Plc.

    Mr. Irish received his MA (Natural Sciences) from Cambridge University and an MSc in Finance from London Business School.

  • Dr. David LeBlanc
    Dr. David LeBlanc President, Chief Technology Officer, Director

    Dr. LeBlanc is a globally recognized authority on MSR technologies and has dedicated his career to the improvement and realization of advanced nuclear power systems, in particular Molten Salt Reactor technologies. His work has focused on the simplification of design and reduction of R&D requirements to realize this goal. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from University of Ottawa in 1998 during which time he focused on High Temperature Superconductivity and their application to fusion energy. He obtained long-term fellowship funding from Canadian Fusion Fuels Technology Project and later focused his interests on improving nuclear fission power.

    For 11 years Dr. LeBlanc held a teaching position with the Carleton University physics department. Concurrently he worked independently in the field of Molten Salt Reactors. In 2008 he founded Ottawa Valley Research Associates Ltd. to advance this work and has filed patents relating to innovations in Molten Salt Reactors technologies that have specific bearing on improving and broadening the commercial application of the technology.

    Dr. LeBlanc has published numerous times in academic journals in conference proceedings and is extensively cited. He is a frequent speaker at international nuclear industry conferences on Molten Salt Reactor design concepts. He has long recognized that public engagement and education are also necessary to advance MSR technologies. To meet this objective, Dr. LeBlanc has had numerous news media engagements, including interviews and media articles in Mechanical Engineering Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, CBC radio, the Toronto Star, and Nuclear Engineering Insider.

  • Canon Bryan
    Canon Bryan Chief Financial Officer, Director

    Mr. Bryan has held executive management positions, served as chief financial officer and served on boards of directors for private and public companies in Canada and the USA. Mr. Bryan has considerable experience providing M&A and corporate development services to clients in various industries. Since 2004, he has focused primarily on the nuclear fuel and exotic metals sectors, and has extensive corporate development databases in these industries.

    Mr. Bryan was a founder of: NioCorp (NB: TSX) in October 2009, a company developing one of the largest niobium deposit in North America; Uranium Energy Corp (UEC: NYSE) in August 2004, where he served as VP Corporate Development until October 2007. UEC is a producer of ISR uranium in the USA. Previously Mr. Bryan was a senior financial analyst for Lasik Vision Corporation (LSK: CDNX), which became the world’s largest provider of laser refractive surgical services during his tenure.

  • Hugh MacDiarmid
    Hugh MacDiarmid Chairman of the Board

    Mr. MacDiarmid has accumulated a diverse range of executive and professional experiences during a 35+ year career. His executive appointments have included serving as President & CEO of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited from 2008 to 2011, President & CEO of Laidlaw Transit Inc. from 2003 to 2005, Executive Vice-President, Commercial of Canadian Pacific Railway from 1995 to 2001 and President & CEO of Lumonics Inc. from 1987 to 1990. Recently, he has operated his own management firm, VIS|EX Corporation, offering advisory and co-investment services to corporate clients. Mr. MacDiarmid is a director of ALH Holding Inc. and SeaCube Container Leasing Limited, both of which are portfolio companies of a leading Canadian pension fund.

    Early in his career, Mr. MacDiarmid was an Associate and then Principal with McKinsey & Company, a leading international management consulting firm. He holds a MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and a HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

  • David Hill, PhD
    David Hill, PhD Director

    Dr. Hill is a nuclear physicist and MBA with 30 years of career experience in nuclear research and in managing large nuclear laboratories in the US. Dr. Hill has held senior executive management positions in the foremost national nuclear laboratories in the USA from 1984 to 2012, specifically Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Idaho National Laboratory (INL). From 2005 to 2012, Dr. Hill was Deputy Laboratory Director for Science and Technology at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Most recently, Dr. Hill has been an independent contractor and provided consulting services to companies in the nuclear industry, including Babcock & Wilcox, the world’s largest provider of nuclear engineering, procurement and construction services.

    Throughout his career, Dr. Hill has gained experience in all aspects of nuclear energy, domestically and internationally. He has managed major projects including at the experimental fast reactor at INL, and the restructuring of ANL. He has at all times, been responsible for hundreds of staff, and hundreds of millions of dollars in annual budgetary research and development expenditures.

    Dr. Hill received his MSc (first class) and his PhD in mathematical physics from the Imperial College, London University. He further received his Honors Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

  • Louis Plowden-Wardlaw

    Mr. Plowden-Wardlaw was called to the English Bar in 1990 and subsequently worked as a banking and asset finance solicitor with Watson, Farley and Williams. He then joined Royal Bank of Canada, London, where he was Legal Counsel and Head of Legal.

    He has advised numerous companies including Credit Suisse, KBC Financial Products, and North Asset Management, an investment manager, where he was General Counsel and Head of Execution. He was for six years a Director of Argo Real Estate Opportunities Fund Limited, a public company running and building retail parks in Central and Eastern Europe. He is a Director of a software services company, General Counsel Limited, and a founding Trustee of the Activation Trust.

    Mr Plowden-Wardlaw graduated with an LLB (Law, First class) from the University of Birmingham and an MSc (Finance) from London Business School, and is a Liveryman of the City of London.
